Great British Bear Bash

GAY.COM/PlanetOut.com Network

The 10th annual Great British Bear Bash (GBBB10) will take place in Manchester this May with four days and nights of furry fun and manly mayhem.

The annual event taking place from Thursday 3 May to Monday 7 May is set to be packed full of things to do including Bear market stalls, a funbears fete, a pool party, a rugby themed club night as well as the 2007 Mr Bearbash competition and the legendary foam party

Organiser Gerard Gudgion told Gay.com: “This will be the tenth GBBB and it’s going to be the biggest one yet. It will have lots of new things in it like the pool party and the big comedy event at The Birdcage with Comedian Jonathan Mayor

The Great British Bear bash expects between 1000 and 1200 men to attend the event every year.

Gerard said: “We have people coming from America, Australia, South Africa and Europe - there’s always a huge contingent from abroad. The Bear Bash has become an international event and is world class in its type and there’s nothing quite like it in the world. We like to take pride in not taking ourselves too seriously and make the events fun and I think Manchester delivers.”

Gerard explained that men of all sizes are welcome to attend the bash.

He explained: “It’s not a bear as in a physical shape it’s a concept. There are people who are into bigger men and it’s not about what you like it’s about who you are. And that’s why the whole bear concept is growing not because people have got bigger or there are a lot of bigger men it’s because actually the ethos is around acceptance and inclusion and not getting caught up in having to wear designer brands, behave in a certain way or listen to a certain type of music.”
